TSW1400EVM: only 14 bits can be collected and the other bits are wrong

Part Number: TSW1400EVM

Hi Team,

To match TSW1400 with ads52j90, only 14 bits can be collected and the other bits are wrong.

I have been using TSW1400 with ADS52J90. It was possible to successfully collect at 10 and 12 bits. But now only 14 can work properly with other errors.

BR,

James

  • Hi James,

Sorry for the delay as I was unavailable due to emergency.

Can you provide the following information about the issue:

    1. What is the sampling speed you are running?

    2. Are you able to capture the data using HSDC Pro "reliably" or are you seeing any errors (may be intermittent) in the data capture?

    3. Is this issue verified on multiple EVMs?

    4. Can you share me the data which you are seeing in 10 bit, 12 bit and 14 bit mode. Please use internal ramp test pattern. I want to first eliminate any errors in the FPGA deserialization.

    Thanks & regards,
    Abhishek

  • Hello Abhishek,

    Thank you for your help.

Recently, during the process of experimentation and testing, I found a way to solve this problem for me.

When I first turn on the software HSDC Pro, connect board:TSW-1400, then download the ADS52J90 firmware, I can automatically turn on the software HMC-DAQ GUI, and then use the software HMC-DAQ GUI to configure the ADS52J90 digits, that is, to configure 10 digits acquisition, to successfully match ADS52J90 with TSW1400, and use HSDC Pro for 10 digits acquisition signal.

However, if I first manually open the software HMC-DAQ GUI and configure ADS52J90 for 10-bit collection, I will still report an error if I use the software HSDC Pro again: Frame Clock Error.

I still have doubts about this question and hope to get your answer.

    BR,

    James

  • Hi James,

The correct way to initialize the firmware for ADS52J90 is to first open HSDC Pro and the tool itself should invoke HMC DAQ GUI. There is a syncing that happens internally between the two devices.

HSDC communicates back and forth to HMC DAQ to initialize the device in the set mode. If you open them independently, they may not be able to communicate with each other and hence it will throw an error.

So, please ensure that HSDC Pro should initialize HMC DAQ when selecting ADS52J90 EVM. Then only it should work reliably.

    Thanks & regards,

    Abhishek
