TSW14J56 EVM and Error 1097

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS54J64EVM, TSW14J57EVM

Hello,

I recently purchased a TSW14J56EVM eval board and was trying to set it up to test a ADCevm. I installed the High Speed Data Converter Pro (HSDC Pro) software to communicate with the board and followed the user guides for both the TSW14J56EVM and HSDC Pro. After first booting up the board and software I tried to download firmware onto the board and was met with this error (See Attached). How do I go about fixing this? Thank you.

I use ads54j64evm and TSW14J56EVM. Now My OS is win10.

And the customer has checked the power supply current: I use HMC8042 power supply, its maximum current output is 5A, I try to use this cable and clamp TSW14J56EVM power cable which your company gave

But 1097 alarm still occur.

Could you please help to check?

Best regards

  • Kailyn,

Can you make sure the current limit is set to 5A? On the TSW14J56EVM, after the firmware is loaded, LED D8 should turn on. From your picture, it appears this is off. Is this correct? If this LED is off, there may be an issue with the FPGA to DDR interface. Looking at the GUI screen shot, it appears the issue is the power supply.

  • Hello Jim,

Thank you for your reply. Attached is the video which the customer met problem.

  • Kailyn,

Please have the customer connect the provided power cable directly to the power supply. I do not like the approach they are using as the added cable maybe causing a voltage drop at the board input and/or the cable wire gauge may be restricting the current rush needed when the firmware starts a download.

If this does not fix the issue, we can offer a replacement board. Since this product is no longer supported, we can offer two options:

    1. Send them a free replacement TSW14J56EVM board that will have limited memory capture depth. This would be 256K total samples.

    2. Request a refund from TI and order a TSW14J57EVM.

    Regards,

    Jim
