ADS1255: supports synchronous sampling ?

Part Number: ADS1255

Hello Team,

My customer used ADS1210 before, but now 1210 is going out of production. The official website suggests ADS1255 instead, but ADS1210 supports synchronous sampling. The datasheet of ADS1255 does not say whether it supports synchronous sampling. Can you tell me whether ADS1255 supports synchronous sampling and provide relevant documentation?

Best Regards,

James

  • Hi Depeng Man,

The ADS1255 does support synchronization, either through the SYNC pin or the SYNC/WAKEUP commands. See the "Synchronization" section on page 27 in the ADS1255 datasheet

  • Hello Bryan,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I've conveyed it to my customer.

    Have a good day .

  • Hello Bryan,

Thank you for your reply. Your reply is helpful to us, but we have a more in-depth question: Does ADS1255 support simultaneous sampling of two pieces like ADS1210? (See the attachment for the picture). Please reply, thank you.

  • Hi Depeng Man,

Yes, the ADS1255 SYNC pin functions similarly to the DSYNC pin on the ADS1210. Therefore, the configuration you are using should work, just make sure that your timing aligns with the ADS1255 timing requirements (pages 6 and 7 and in the ADS1255 datasheet)

Please also note the guidance for connecting a crystal to multiple devices, which I have copied below (page 23 in the ADS1255 datasheet)

Finally, with only CS signal you will not be able to independently configure each ADC. If this is not a concern for the customer, then connecting the same CS signal to both ADCs is acceptable.
