DAC12DL3200EVM: DC Coupling

Part Number: DAC12DL3200EVM

We would like to use the DAC12DL3200EVM with both channels being DC coupled. We saw from the schematic that the board is shipped AC transformer coupled. Is there a way we can change the assembled components on the PCB (namely the L1,L2,L3,L4 and AC coupling capacitors, and transformers or any other you suggest) to convert the output to DC coupling single ended? Please note that our maximum frequency is 150 MHz on each of the two channels working with 600 MHz sampling rate. In case of positive answer did you ever test such configuration? Do you have any measurement result with DC coupling to share?

Thanks  and kind regards

Luca

  • Luca,

We have not tested this EVM using a DC coupled application and do not have any measurements.

If you would like to attempt to configure your board, you will have to do the following:

Replace L1 and L2 with 50 Ohm resistors.

Remove FB43 and connect an external 2.55V bias to the pad of FB43 that connects to C327. This will provide the required 1.8V CM voltage required by the DAC.

Remove T3. Use pins 4 and 5 of T3 as the DC coupled output.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Also you would need to replace C328 and C329 with 0 Ohm resistors.
