ADS52J90EVM: Using ADS52J90EVM with HSMC-ADC-Bridge

Hello,

I am looking at possibility of purchasing ADS52J90 to interface with Cyclone V GT dev board and I realised I need HSMC bridge. The bridge is not pin compatible. I am happy to loose DOUT9 but on the bridge it will shorted to GND. simple question :will it work?

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in the device ADS52J90.

With respect to the LVDS interface, you can short the DOUT9 pin to GND. There will be no impact on the functionality. You shall be able to use the other data lines for capture.

It will work. You can also power down the lane as well.

Another question: I just realised ADC_SYNC_FPGA and LMK_SYNC_FPGA will also be shorted to GND if we use bridge. can you please comment on that too? Thanks

Hi Aidin,

Per se, this will not lead to any functionality issues if you don't access these two signals. These two signals are for synchronizing the ADC and LMK chip by resetting their clock dividers.

You can also access these signals on the ADS52J90EVM through the following SMA connectors - J39 (LMK_SYNC) and J50 (ADC_SYNC_SMA).
