ADS8681EVM-PDK: Wiring SPI pins

Part Number: ADS8681EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8681

Hi Team.

Is it possible to connect the ADS8681EVM-PDK board to NXP® i.MX 8M Mini Computer on Module via SPI?

I checked the design and found that the SPI lines were accessible via the J2 connector. I suggested using a matching connector for J2 and wiring the SPI it from there. however, it is not an option for them at the moment.

Is it a good idea to just wire the connections directly to the ADS8681 SPI pins or connect a jumper wire to the resistors of the SPI pins? what would be the effect if they did this?

Is there any workaround that you can suggest?

Thank you.

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

Assuming that you are not using the PHI board (i.e. nothing plugged into J2), they would need to apply 6-9V to TP2, 3.3-5V to TP3, both referenced to TP5 on the ADS8681EVM.  They can certainly wire into the SPI and other control lines via R17 and R26 through R29 and go from there.
