ADS1293: Current Consumption

Part Number: ADS1293

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

Is 3.5uA typical the total current consumption?

I would like to know the current consumption from the digital side and the one from the analog side since it is recommended to use two different power supplies. Could there be more specific values?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Regards,

CSC

  • Hi,

It will heavily depend on what voltage customer supplies and the operating modes and how customer configure the device.

Please refer to the datasheet 7.5 Electrical Characteristics, POWER SUPPLY (VDD, VDDIO) section, which lists the current consumption that can be disclosed.

Also, in the section 7.5, it also list quiescent current under different operating modes, so it depends on which operating mode customer is using.

Table 7. Typical Current Consumption Per Block provides more details about the current consumption.

It's suggested customer to test&measure using the EVM board as well as their customer board if they have one.

    Thanks

  • Hello Chien,

    Good day.

I still don't understand. It is not clear to me which current is consuming on the digital side. It mentions how much can supply but not how much is consumed... Could you be more specific? I would really appreciate it.

  • Hi,

IVDD is the analog supply current,

IVDDIO is the Current for digital,

and as I mentioned, they heavily depend on how user configures and uses the chip and non of the datasheet can list them all out as there are tens or hundreds of use cases.

Here only just listed some below, but you can find the IVDD and IVDDIO in the datasheet under various usage/conditions, and again not all the usages/conditions -

and there are more in the datasheet which user can look up.

By the way, not knowing what are the purposes for this?

    Some suggestion might be,

    1. customer will need to test&measure it out if they care about power saving very a lot.

    2. However, if the customer is looking for what power supplies or requirement are sufficient for the ADS to work, they can simply refer to the power supplies part numbers used&listed in the EVM user guide's schematic and Bill of Material(BOM). And, then if they pick the same power supplies or the power supplies that meet the same spec, it should work.

    Thanks
