ADS8325: Noise

Part Number: ADS8325

Hi Team,

Good day. I am posting this inquiry on behalf of the customer.

"I'm studying the ADC converter model ADS8325, an ADC 16bits SAR model, and it will be used for high-precision lab experiments to collect pressure sensors. As the experiment has a high-pressure variation in a short period of time (less than 10 msec), I will need to acquire these data at a high-speed sample rate. My question is, in order to assure, better performance and noise influence, I will need to put a filter in front of the ADC. On page 19 of the ADS8325 documentation attached, there is a paragraph that says: "For AC signals, a digital filter can be used to the falling edge of DCLOCK to capture each bit. low-pass filter and decimate the output codes. This works in a similar manner to averaging; for every, falling CS signal initiates the conversion and data decimation by 2, the signal-to-noise ratio will improve transfer. The first 4.5 to 5.0 clock periods of the 3dB". But I don't know if this is the best approach if I need to analyze this transient which has higher spectrum frequencies. Can you provide any approach in order to guarantee that I can read data in the best way and with low noise influence?"

Please help to advise. Thank you for extending your help.

  • Hello Marvin,

For bridge measurements, such as pressure sensors, it commonly to use a Delta Sigma ADC, instead of a SAR ADC, such as the ADS8325.

One of our engineers wrote A Basic Guide to Bridge Measurements, which is a great document that can help to decide what device is best for your application.

With more information about your application and circuit, we can help narrow further down the best device

    Regards,
