DAC8740H: Question about typical application circuit

Part Number: DAC8740H
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA335

Hi team,

There are 2 question about DAC8740H typical application circuit in the datasheet.

- What is the purpose of C20?

- There is no compensation components. I saw some schematic has compensation but some schematic doesn't have it. Why it's not required?

Best Regards,

  • Joe will address this.  Note that there will be some delays due to the US holiday.

  • Atsushi-san,

I didn't work on this circuit, so I don't know for certain about all of the details with this example. C20 is likely there just to reduce the bandwidth of the noise going into the OPA335. with R9 and R11, this makes a bandwidth of about 80kHz.

For the compensation capacitor on OPA335, I'm not sure why it isn't necessary. The OPA335 has a GBW of about 2MHz, and I would have guessed that the compensation would be needed.
