ADS1255: Looking for a Simultaneous Sampling ADC with 6 Channels

Part Number: ADS1255
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS127L11

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

Looking at a new design - we currently have ADS1255 parts. Looking for a simultaneous sampling ADC with 6 channels (min) with comparable temperature performance (gain and zero drift) and similarly low noise

Need to sample at 2ksps. Low-temperature drift is key
SPI interface also. Want to daisy chain all channels onto single SPI
Either - got a single-ended 5V swing signal sat at 2.5V currently
simultaneous sampling

If simultaneous sampling can't get to the ADS1255 specs then we'd consider single-channel parts if we can daisy-chain the data outputs - doesn't look like ADS1255 can be daisy-chained.
We have already looked at the ADS131 are the temperature specs (offset and gain drift) are not as good as the ADS1255. We need something as good or ideally better than the ADS1255.
Thank you in advance.

Regards,
CSC
  • Hi CSC,

If the ADS131xxx devices are not acceptable for the customer, I would have them check out the ADS127L11. This is a 1-ch, 24-bit, up to 1 MSPS delta-sigma ADC, and is a brand new device from TI. The reason I bring up this device is because it has comparable drift parameters to the ADS1255 and can also be daisy-chained, which appears to be acceptable to the customer.

We just released a new reference design that daisy-chains 4x ADS127L11 together. I am not sure if the application (vibration sensing) will be interesting to the customer, but they can get an understanding of how the daisy-chaining works by reviewing this reference design: https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-010249

Let us know if anything else is needed here
