AMC7823: ADC for Current Sense?

Hi expert,

May I know if AMC7823 ADC inputs can be used for current sense? Or we have to choose like AMC7834 which has sense+/- pins?

    Hi Allan,

    You would have to use some kind of INA or current shunt monitor device to use the single-ended ADC inputs to measure current.  The inputs are limited to  voltage that are generally lower than the VDRAIN voltage in PA biasing applications.  The AMC7834 has inputs that are specialized for this purpose, but the AMC7823 does not.  I recommend using the AMC7834 or implemented some instrumentation amplifiers.
