Where are the amplifiers in the ADS1298ECG-FE?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

I have been looking at the circuit diagrams because I would like to use the ADS1298 on my board. Somethings I am unsure off and here goes the list of questions.

1) There is a low pass and a high pass filter before going into the ADS1298, and the diodes serve as an ESD protection?

2) Why have a Band-gap filter right at the beginning, why not filter the digital signal on the computer?

3)  Where are the amplifiers? I have been looking for the IN amps, but can't find it. Is it inside the the ADS1298 chip? If it is what are the specs? is it good enough to be used for EEG?

4) What is the purpose of all the jumpers in the circuit?

  • Tashfique,

Consult the ADS1298EVM User's Guide section 4 called "ADS1298ECG-FE Daughter Card Hardware Introduction" to answer a majority of your questions. There are no external amplifiers on the board, the ADS1298 has built in low noise PGAs, consult the datasheet for more information concerning the PGA and the rest of the internal features of the ADS1298. The ADS1298EVM User's Guide should also answer your questions about all of the jumpers.
