To control N daisy chained adcs, can I use only 2 CS lines? That is, can I tie CS2 to CS3 together, and set CS1 and CS2 low when I want to start a conversion?

Hi Grant,
I think you have the concept down correctly. This little post is written very clearly explaining the need to configure the first converter (CS1) differently than the other two (/CS2/CS3).

Basically, you need the multiple /CS for initial configuration to set the first CFR differently than the ''chained devices.'' The daisy chained devices (devices 2, 3, etc.) need to be configured to have the CDI pin set as a daisy chain input. Once everything is configured, the two CS lines controlling the three converters need to all toggle together.
