ADC12D1620QML-SP: Radiation tolerance of EM part

We performed TID radiation testing on an EM part, and found its responsivity dramatically dropped after a small TID dose (well within the specified rating of the FM part).

Is the EM part non-rad tolerant? Or will we see the same radiation effects on the FM part?

Hi David,

Unfortunately, the EM (or MPR) orderable part number (and any TI EM part) is not radiation tolerant. The EM devices are ‘engineering models’ used for electrical and mechanical evaluation only – they are not for flight. The FM or ‘flight model’ (the MLS or 5962F1220502VXF OPN) is radiation hardness assured and each wafer/fab-lot is qualified by undergoing TID testing per the MIL spec, it is a QMLV-RHA device.

I understand that the EM is not qualified to be rad-hard, but is the EM constructed differently? Is there any reason to expect this behaviour?
