Hi,

In our application, TVP5158 is configured as 4CH-D1 line-interleaved mode. Basically it can work as expected, I mean we can see 4 channel video shown on the screen.

However the problem that bothers me is that after running for 3~5 minutes, the odd /even field order becomes incorrect on 1 or 2 channels. It seems to me that the actual video field data mismatches with its field ID bit.

We used to think it's the capture / display problem of the programming running on the backend DM814X EVM board. But after some investigation, I found that re-init TVP5158 could solve this issue whenever it occured.

I heard TVP5158 had a patch to address some defects. Could my problem be caused by lack of patch installation?

Hello Liang,

Do not recommend using the TVP5158 without pach code. Patch v02.02.58 or newer is recommended for use with the DM8148 and DM8168.

Did you develop your own TVP5158 driver or was it provided by TI?

Are you currently using the original DM8148CYE devices or the newer DM8148BCYE devices?

The original DM8148CYE devices require changing some of the TVP5158s default settings for best operation.

Hello Jim,

I'm not so sure about the exact version of DM814x devices. I got a snapshot on the .sch, showing in the picture below:

TVP5158 driver code is originally developed by a third company, since we are using QNX OS.

Anyway, I got to try the patch.

But how can I verify if the patch code has been successfully downloaded or not ? I suppose there is some register values to indicate the FW version.

Do you have a register setting list for 4CH-D1 format ?

I'd like to check our settings.

Hello Liang,

To select the 4-Ch D1 LI output format, write A0h to I2C register B0h.

To enable the clock and data outputs, write 25h to I2C register B2h.

Recommend setting all other I2C registers to their default settings (See Table 4-1 in the TVP5158 data manual).
