ADS8363: Question about using 0-5V input

Part Number: ADS8363

Hello team,

If my customer wants to use ADS8363 with 0-5V SE input,

CMA pin should be connected REFIO or 2.5V. Is this right?

Do they need to connect (-)input with REFIO or 2.5V?

Or both connections must be required?

Best Regards,

Austin

  • Hi Austin,

You might consider reviewing section 8.6.4 of the datasheet for details on how the CMx inputs of the ADS8363 work.  How you connect things up in the end depends on how you want to use the chip.  If you are using the 2x2 mode, you can put REFIO @ 2.5V to one of the (-) inputs and swing the + input 0-5V.  If you are using the part in 4x2 mode, then technically the (-) input is connected internally through the MUX.  Please review the REFCM register - you could source an external 2.5V to CMx or you can use one of the references as the common mode voltage internally - no need to connect to the CMx pin.

  • Hi Tom,

    Thanks for reply.

The customer will not use MUX, so they can just put 2.5V(external or REFIO) to (-) inputs without using CMx pin.

    Best Regards,

    Austin
