DAC81416EVM: Configuring the buck chip and transmitting the data

Genius 17945 points
Part Number: DAC81416EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC81416

Hi Experts,

Posting this query on behalf of Siva:

Using the buck chip 81416 EVM for analog conversion with interface micro-controller, configuring the buck chip and transmitting the data. Somehow, the buck chip is not getting the transmitted data. Needs 32 bit not for 24 bit.

As you know that we are using DAC81416EVM board to prove the Cell voltage emulation module. If J11 is connected with 1-2 to use the V ref from REF5025.

In case, if the internal V ref is enabled through SPI GENCONFIG Register by clearing the flag REF-PWDWN as 0 along with J11 with 1-2. Will this evaluation board damage during this scenario please?

Thanks ahead for your support.

Regards,
Archie / Siva

  • Hello, the question is missing above. Here is the point we would like to clarify please.

"In case, if the internal V ref is enabled through SPI GENCONFIG Register by clearing the flag REF-PWDWN as 0 along with J11 with 1-2. Will this evaluation board damage during this scenario please?"

  • Hi Archie and Siva,

Sanjay will take a look at this and likely confirm for you tomorrow.

  • Hi Archie/Siva.

In this case when both external and internal references are active and connected to the REF pin of DAC81416 -

"It can damage the internal reference of DAC81416 and it's not recommended. DAC81416 wakes with internal reference in power down mode. At a time only one of the external or internal reference should be active on REF pin of DAC81416"

    Thanks,

    Sanjay

  • Hi Sanjay

Many thanks for your quick response. I would like to clarify one more point as well please. Here is the table we are achieving today.

    Input Value DAC output Voltage
    0xFFFF 5 V
    0xBFFF 3.82 V
    0x7FFF 2.56 V
    0x3FFF 1.29 V

Is this possible to update the configuration to reverse this output voltage as given below please.

    Input Value DAC output Voltage
0xFFFF 0 V or 0.5V (min value whatever is possible)
    0x0000 5 V

    Many thanks

    With kind regards

    Siva

  • HI Siva,

Let me check about this  and will update on this by tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Sanjay

  • Hi Siva,

Regarding your earlier question, there are multiple ways in which you can get reversed outout :

    1. use it in 0-5V mode and reverse the code map in software itself (this is the simplest way to do it)

    2. use the DAC in "DIFFRENTIAL MDOE, 0-5V mode" and use the second channel of the pair.

    Thanks,

    Sanjay
