Which decoder can be received 2Ch analog composite to decoder's Input?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5150AM1, TVP5158, TVP5146

Dear TI,

I want to know a video decoder that can be received 2Ch analog composite input to decoder's Input at the same time?

Which decoder is the most suitable solution?

How about tvp5150am1 or not tvp5158 with 4Ch ?

(I as know TI does not have 2ch_Video decoder.)

main DSP is DM368.

pls let me know ASAP...

Best regards,

Eric Kim.

  • Hi Eric,

You are correct that TI does not offer a two channel decoder.

Two TV5150AM1 decoders, two TVP5146/7 decoders, or one TVP5158 could be used,.

Do you plan to use two bt656 video ports to support the two channels?

  • Hi Larry Taylor,

    Thank you for the guide.

yes, need to use two bt656 video ports to support the two channels independently..

If use one bt656 video port, Is one TV5150AM1 O.K ?

Is it O.K two composite input by selectable switch?

Otherwise, it should be used two TV5150AM1 or one TVP5158,

I think two TV5150AM1 are better than one TVP5158.

Because the application is Black Box for portable device.

(aspects of TV5150AM1's Ultra Low Power, smallest package & Low price...)

    Is it correct?

    Best regards,

    Eric Kim

  • Hello Eric,

Yes, the TVP5150AM1 is ideal for low power applications.

Unfortunately, the DM368 only supports one BT.656 video port.

Thus, you'll need to use the TVP5158 to line-interleave the two video channels together.

If you use a selectable switch, you'll no longer be able to receive two video channels at the same time.

    Regards,

    Jim

  • Thank you Jim,

So How to compose it In order to receive below BT.656 format?

Could you pls recommend for Line-interleave?

     Belpw

Attached blocks is what I want to compose between DM368 and video decoder I/F.

It's O.K to select anyone of them !!

    Pls guide one more time.

    thanks,

    Eric KIm

  • Hello Kim,

Using the TVP5158 with the DM368, you can use a single 16-bit interface or a single 8-bit interface but not the dual 8-bit interface.

    Jim
