ADS1292R: RLD circuit

Part Number: ADS1292R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292

Hi

We are comparing the TIDA-01614 schematics vs ADS1292R EVM schematics.

We saw there is a difference regarding the RLD circuit

On TIDA-01614 the RLD also connect to ELA and ERA signal as shown below. May I know why EVM no need such connection and while TIDA-01614 needs ? thanks!

  • Hi,

The connection in TIDA-01614 is optional(i.e. not necessary), it is just to provide designers additional option how they want to use/treat the RLD electrode,

    1. The EVM design or the TIDA-01614's ADS1292_RLD pin use the standard and conventional method to use the RLD electrode to bias/drive on to subject under measurement(SUM).

    2. The  TIDA-01614's RLD1 is optional and it's usually for the case that designers don't want to use/have extra RLD electrode to drive/bias the subject under measurement, so it provides option to connect the RLD1 directly to the signal input pins to somewhat/approximately achieve the RLD bias, but not on to the SUM, but to the ECG input pins/channel.

    Typically, method 1 is preferred.

    Thanks
