ADS1261: Regarding Thermocouple design of ADC ADC

Part Number: ADS1261
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1148

Hi,

  1. We have using ADS1261 IC, In that datasheet there is no information on Thermocouple measurement or circuit, But RTD information is there. Is that IC support for thermocouple measurement...? We need a confirmation if it can support, kindly share the reference TC design circuit and we compare with other IC ADS1148, In this datasheet they mentioned we can used both TC and RTD.

  • Hi prema k,

The ADS1261 can definitely be used for thermocouple (TC) measurements. TC measurements require a low noise amplifier and a high performance VREF, both of which are included in the ADS1261

For more information about thermocouple measurements, please refer to our design guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sbaa274

This document does not explicitly mention the ADS1261, however the principles you learn from the design guide can easily be applied to your design.
