ADS1220: which max acquisition speed if repetitive changes in PGA gain?

Part Number: ADS1220

Hello

I'm evaluating the feasibility of using ADS1220 in a AtoD conversion where I need to measure:
- temperature via K thermocouple, with cold junction compensation
- a voltage in the range 50..500mV, referred to 0V, with resolution such as to require 24bit (current sense through a resistor connected to 0V)

The idea was: repetitively and periodically, set PGA gain to read thermocouple, then acquire thermocouple data (how many samples? to be determined), then set PGA gain to read voltage, then acquire voltage data (how many samples? to be determined) and so on ad infinitum.

The question is:
what sample rate can be achieved in this configuration? What is the minimum time required to set the PGA gain and have the PGA ready with the new gain correctly set? How many time to wait from setting PGA gain to start conversion?

Thanks for answers

Bye

Marco
