DAC53204-Q1: Two channel PWM generation

Part Number: DAC53204-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC53204, DAC539G2-Q1, , DAC53701-Q1

Hi team,

My customer requires 2ch PWM signal for LED indicator. DAC53204 should be a candidate for such application. Can DAC53204 be used for such application with attached configuration? If the configuration is wrong, please let me know.

  • Hi Saito-san,

Yes this will work as you have shown.

What is the application? Is there some type of control being applied to the LED indicator? Or are they just setting a precise duty cycle and leaving the LED either on or off?

I want to check if there is a another device that I can suggest to you.

  • Hi Katlynne,

Thanks. The application is ecall. Customer need to control LED indicator with PWM to set the duty cycle.

    Saito

  • Hi Saito-san,

This is likely the best device. You can also check the DAC539G2-Q1. It is a GPI to PWM device that sets the output duty cycle using GPI inputs and a lookup table.

  • Hi Katlynne,

Thanks! Now we can offer below 3 solutions to customer. Currently, number of host MCU GPIO is not enough. So, I think solution 1 is better.

    1. DAC53204-Q1 for 2ch PWM generation

Pros : Easy to adjust the reference voltage for duty setting through I2C.

    Cons : -

    2. DAC539G2-Q1 x 2pcs for 2ch PWM generation

Pros : Select the 8 options of reference voltage through three GPI.

Cons : Need additional 3 GPO from MCU.

    3. DAC53701-Q1 x 2pcs for 2ch PWM generation

    Pros : Cheaper solution

Cons : Need to set the referece voltage by external voltage divider or need additional DAC for reference voltage.

Smart DAC portfolio is evolving now. I need to check the latest infromation.

    Regards,

    Saito

  • Hi Saito-san,

I agree that the first solution seems like the best proposal. Let me know if the customer has any questions as they consider your proposals.

There have been a lot of additions to the smart DAC portfolio! More are releasing to ti.com this month. If you would like, we can set up a meeting with our smart DAC PME, Illia, and he can go over the automotive lighting portfolio as well as other smart DAC devices. Or at the very least, he can point you to the right sales collateral. Send me an email if you are interested.

  • Hi Katlynne-sn,

Thanks. We are going to get customer feedback in next week. I will get back to you then.

Regardsing the sales collateral, I sent you an emai including Illia.

    Regards,
