ADS127L01EVM: Using it with 3rd party MCU

Part Number: ADS127L01EVM

Hi team,

I have an enquiry on the ADS127L01EVM below:

  1. May I know is it possible that we can connect the adc sensor in this EVM with the 3rd part MCU via SPI?
  2. Is there any EVM application note (with 3rd party MCU) available?

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Ernest

  • Hello Ernest,

Yes, you can connect an external processor to the ADC using J6.  We do not have any application notes for this use case.

Install a jumper on JP1 to disable the EVM TIVA processor.

Use S3 to configure the ADC function pins by setting /HWEN switch to 0(ON) position.

  • Hi Keith,

    Thanks for your response.

By the way, do we need to remove those J3 jumper to disconnect the TIVA and ADC sensor?

    ...

  • Hello Ernest,

With JP1 installed, the TIVA processor is forced into RESET and all pins are hi-Z.  However, there is still stray capacitive load on these lines.  For best performance, you can remove all jumpers on J3, but this is typically not necessary.

Yes, it is not a bad idea to remove all jumpers on J3 when using an external processor.

    Keith
