AMC1035EVM: Motor Driver Current Sensing

Part Number: AMC1035EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1035, AMC1306M25

I am using the AMC1035EVM evaluation board to check if I can able to use it to measure the current on the motor phases. I have the following questions

1. Can it withstand 24V common mode voltage? since my phase voltage is 24V

2. What is the output frequency I should expect when my input clock is at 20MHz?

Thanks

  • Hi Vikram,

Take a look at Figure 45 in the ADS1035 datasheet.  You will find examples of phase current sensing as well as VBus and phase voltage measurements.  With a +/-1V input span, the AMC1035 is meant to be used in voltage sensing applications with an input common mode voltage limitation of (roughly) Vdd/2.  The AMC1306M25 shown in Figure 45 is intended for current sensing application.  The input range to the AMC1306M25 is +/-250mV, which is better suited to shunt resistors.  In either case, the output is a bit-stream running at the modulator clock speed so a 20MHz clock gives you a 20MHz bit-stream.
