Can the TDIODE- pin be tied to ground?

I'm using the TMP9R00-SP to monitor multiple devices (including this ADC) and one of them needs the Common pin tied to ground which means the TDIODE on the ADC would also be tied to ground.

Sorry for the delay.

From an ADC perspective there is no issue with grounding the TDIODE- pin.

What we don’t know is if the temp sensor chip (TMP9R00-SP) works fine if the TDIODE- is grounded.

This is something you may need to confirm on your side.

Hi Joseph,

I spoke to the lead designer on this subject and I have an update, grounding either terminal of the Tdiode does not affect the ADC performance.

However, grounding the Tdiode- pin has led to erroneous temperature measurements using the LM95xxx temperature sensor family.

This wasn’t due to our temperature diode per se, but rather the common mode range of the temperature sensor circuitry driving & measuring the diode.

I would recommend trying a temp sensor on our EVM to verify.

Hi Joseph,

LM95xxx refers to a family of remote sensors such as LM95235. TMP9R00 is also a remote sensor, but does not share any technology with LM95xxx devices.
