Using a common clock source and common /PDWN pin to Synchronize four ADS1232 Converters.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1232, ADS1271

With reference to this app note:  http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sbas355/sbas355.pdf

I would like to sync 4 ads1232 converters to converts Synchronously.   Using a common clock source and common /PDWN pin to Synchronize would this be the same as the Sync pin on the ADS1271.

Thank you.

  • Jan,

It will be close.  Startup time from power down is typically 160ns using an external clock.  This can vary from part to part, but I wouldn't expect it to be more than 20% from the typical for worst case.  However this range has not been characterized so I would do some testing.  Even at 80 sps I doubt that any difference would be detectable in the result.

    Best regards,
