DAC60501: Setting up internal reference.

Part Number: DAC60501

Hello,
I am using the DAC60501, Attach is the SPI signals where the power-up (VDD=3.3V) is the trigger hence the signal in yellow.
I first tried to write the GAIN register and divide the reference by 2 (1.25V) and everything seems to work fine.
When I am setting up to divide by 1 (hence 2.5V), the DAC output is zero volts regardless of the DAC-DATA I am sending.
I have also tried to send a soft-reset first but it did not seem to change anything.
My clock signal is around 6kHz.

Please advice,

-Tal

  • Hi Tal,

When the reference divider is disabled, the reference needs to fall in the highlighted range:

The 2.5-V internal reference is too high to be used without the divider for a 3.3-V VDD. When the above operating conditions are not followed, the internal reference buffer will not have enough headroom and it will shut down. This is why you are seeing the DAC outputs as zero for this case.

    Best,
