DAC7811: What is the function of Pin 1(DIG_ANA_IN) for DAC7811 Pspice model and how to use this function

Part Number: DAC7811
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PSPICE-FOR-TI,

Dear Product line engineer:

one thing need your supporting as below.

I use Pspice-for-TI to do simulation for supporting customer and need use DAC7811. then I'm a little puzzle for pin 1(DIG_ANA_IN) of DAC7811 symbol. how to use this pin? Could I directly add a 5V voltage or other voltage?

my understanding is that the voltage in Pin 1 of DAC7811 will be inversered for previously schematic, am I right? seems this pin means analog input voltage for relatived digital input code, right?

thanks for your supporting.

regards,

Bill

  • Hi Bill,

You are right. Instead of controlling 12 digital lines to set the DAC code, you just use an ideal analog input voltage that would correspond to the DAC code you are trying to send to the DAC.

  • hi, Jones

nice to meet you here and thanks for your explain.

then I set the input voltage to 2V and expect output equal to ~ -2V. but the simulation result is -5V. is there any mistakes from pspice-model of DAC7811? my schematic and simulation result as below. could you please suggest? thanks.

    regards,

    Bill

  • Hi Bill,

I downloaded the model directly from TI's website and there were some helpful notes:

It looks like the input range is 0 - 1V, not 0 - VREF like I originally thought. I had never used this model before, so sorry for the confusion!

  • hi, Jones

this is now clarify and working correct for me. thank you so much for supporting!
