Is VPIF necessary for PAL/SECAM/NTSC decoding?

I'm looking for a TI DaVinci media processor to decode PAL/SECAM/NTSC using video decoder TVP5151.

646x family has Video Port Interface (VPIF), but not every family has.

Is it necessary to have such port or it can be done on another family - 36x for example?
