ADS8588SEVM-PDK: Synchronization between multiple ADS8588SEVM-PDK

Part Number: ADS8588SEVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8588S

Hi,

I wanted to enquire if it would be possible (in theory, I don't need detailed instructions or support) to synchronize multiple ADS8588SEVM-PDK 's in order to simultaneously capture more than 8 channels. We would like to test the performance of multiple ADS8588 devices as would be used in our application. After reading the data sheet it seems like this is possible, it's just not clear to me how I would use multiple GUI's to capture from multiple devices.

Regards,

John.

  • I see an external Trigger pin going to the controller, I can't see any documentation about this however. I wonder if this may be one way to achieve this?

  • Hi John,

    Welcome to the E2E forum.

The test point of Ext Trig on the EVM was used for internal test purpose. The existing EVM GUI software does not support to capture data from multiple ADS8588S ADCs through the PHI controller card which is included in the EVM-PDK. The only way you can test multiple EVM boards is to use your own microcontroller or FPGA with your software you will have to develop, you can connect the signals of ADC to your microcontroller or FPGA through JP1 or J9 connecter on the ADS8588SEVM board.

The ADS8588SEVM has been tested and verified to meet the specifications that are shown in the ADS8588S datasheet. Testing multiple EVMs means to test the connections including wires or cables and the software in this case.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks&regards,

    Dale

  • Thanks yes I suspected as much, we will develop our own interface for the EVM.
