ADS1220: The test power consumption is too high

Part Number: ADS1220

Hi,

I have customer who are having problems testing with the ADS1220.

The customer normally tests the ADS1220 current of about 10-12uA, but recently using the same test board to test another batch of chips found that the current reached about 40-140uA, please advise what is the reason?

Many thanks~

  • Hi Rhea,

Here it is unclear what the customer is actually doing.  As there is both an AVDD and DVDD supply, are they measuring both or just one supply?  I would also need to know when they are measuring the current in relation to power-up and if any device change of configuration is taking place prior to the measurement of current?

It would also be helpful to know which package type they are using and if they are using a socket for testing the ADS1220?

One additional item that would be helpful is how the current is being measured.  Are they making a direct current measurement? Or are they making an indirect current measurement by measuring a voltage drop across a resistor and then calculating the current?

    Best regards,

    Bob B
