DAC121C081: Randomly no ACK on Write or Read

Part Number: DAC121C081

Production Issue: I have some boards the work just fine. Other boards randomly the DAC does not provide an ACK on the address part of the transmission.

I have looked at the I2C lines and the only difference I can see is that the ACK is high when it does work and low when it does.

We have tried replacing the DAC with a new one and only sometimes it fixes the issue.

I have had them work and fail at both 100KHz and 400KHz.

There are other parts on the I2C chain.

The chain has 2.2K pull up resistors. If have tried 2.49K, 1.5K and 1.2K with the same results.

I put the 2.2K resistors back on a board that was failing all the time and now it seems to work????

All the other devices on the I2C chain seem to always work fine.

Full part number DAC121C081CIMK/NOPB

Date code parts used to replace is 2340, Lot code from Digikey 3241677EM3.

Any thoughts on what check next?
