ADS124S08: ADS124S08

Part Number: ADS124S08

Hi,

I am using ADS124S08 for my project. It has a 24bit resolution but I am getting values equivalent to 23bit resolution. The max reading I am getting is 8388607, while according to 24 bit resolution it should be around 16777215.

So what configurations are required to be changed to get 24 bit resolution?

Thanks

  • Hi Nimish Palod,

Welcome to the E2E forum!  The ADS124S08 can resolve to 24-bits, but the output is binary 2's complement as the measurement is AINP relative to AINN.  So one half of the full-scale range are positive codes (0 to 7FFFFFh) and the other half as negative codes (FFFFFFh to 800000h).  So that is the ability of the ADC to resolve, but most likely you will not see this total resolution in your conversion result due to noise.  Consult the ADS124S08 datasheet for further details on resolution of the measurement relative to the selected PGA gain and output data rate.

    Best regards,
