Hello. 

Are there any recommended ultra low noise amplifiers that would be recommended as a pre-amp for the AFE5401 or AFE5808? Our application deals with signals in the nano-to-low-micro volt range and we are interested in boosting it slightly. I was looking at something like the AD8331 or AD8432 VGA's.

Are there any pre-amp recommendations for these AFE's

    Hi,

    There are two options. First you can put the low noise amp in front. But i feel that will not help a lot since the input referred noise of our AFE can go as low as to 0.8nV when you set it to max gain. So having any gain at input will not improve the noise further. So I recommend second option. You can apply digital gain after capturing the AFE output.Once you have sufficient low input referred noise, having more gain at input wont help. Equivalently you shall have more digital gain which will give same SNR.
