AFE58JD18: Noise performance

Part Number: AFE58JD18
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE58JD28, AFE58JD48, AFE5818, AFE5828

Hi,

Let me ask you about the noise performance between AFE58JDxx family.

I am considering AFE58JD18/JD28/JD48.

According to the datasheet, these devices noise performance(input referred noise) are as below.

 AFE58JD18  0.75nV/rtHz @65MSPS, 14bit, 140mW/ch

 AFE58JD28  0.8nV/rtHz  @65MSPS, 14bit, 102mW/ch

 AFE58JD48  0.8nV/rtHz  @65MSPS, 16bit, 115mW/ch

I think the best noise performance device is AFE58JD18.

Is my understanding correct?

If we emphasize on noise performance, we should employ AFE58JD18, correct?

And the benefit of AFE58JD28 compared to AFE58JD18 is "Power consumption", right?

Thank you for your support.

Best Regards,

Takumi

  • Hi,

Ideally speaking you are correct. But if we take adoption of these devices from our customer at system level, there is no difference in performance between AFE5818 and AFE5828. At system level both devices have shown the same overall performance. AFE5828 is new gen device that offers lower power as compared with AFE5818 hence it is a better option.

AFE58JD48 gives better performance at lower gain condition than both AFE58JD28 and AFE58JD18 since ADC performance is better and also offers better clock speed support.

    Thanks!
