Video converter which supports CSI

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158, TVP7002, SN65LVDS315

Are there any video converters or intermediate chip available which converts analog video ntsc  composite video to digital and which can be connected to CSI Port of OMAP

Something like TVP7002/TVP5158 connected to CSI Port of OMAP

Thanks & Regards,

sriram

  • Siram,

Can you use an OMAP bt656 port or a 16-bit port.  The TVP parts do not have CSI outputs.  You would need to use a serializer device such as the SN65LVDS315, but this part is limited to 8-bits and 26MHz maximum clock.

  • Larry,

Are you aware of any other TI Chip or of any other vendor which converts analog component/composite ntsc video to digital which i can connect to the csi port

  • Hello Sriram,

Unfortunately, we can't recommend a solution since we've never investigated this applicaiton before.

One potential issue is that our video decoders have a line-locked clock output.  There's no guarantee that the serializer/deserializer used to implement the CSI interface will be able to track the line to line clock variations associated with a line locked clock.  This may lead to a high bit error rate.
