I was wondering what the purpose of the four transformers on page two of the ADC3244EVM's schematic (see below) were? Is it an isolation transformer or something else? And are they necessary for operation?

This is for single ended to differential conversion. The ADC has to be driven differentially. The transformer does that. This double transformer structure helps improve phase imbalance between the individual components which will yield higher performance for the ADC.

The EVM has the ability to be driven with a differential signal but this is not by default. The SMA for the negative input would need to be populated and some resistors populated as well. This is not the majority of use cases so we leave the board in the most popular (single ended) configuration.
