Hello ,
I 've two questions please
Firstly ,
I 've purchased ADS8344EVM , DAC886EVM , 5-6K Interface board and DSP-6713
are these four PCBs compatible together because I can't figure out how to connect DAC886EVM & ADS8344EVM together ?
Secondly ,
I know that DAC8564EVM is compatible with ADS8344EVM but DAC8564EVM operates using Serial communication do yo have similar DACs with similar specs but communicate using Parallel digital data inputs ?
Thank you very much in advance.
BR,
Amr Wael
Hi Amr,
The ADS8344EVM and the DAC8564EVM would plug onto 'Serial Site 1' and 'Serial Site 2' of the 5-6K Interface board. See page 9 pf the 5-6K Interface Board Users Guide The interface card would then plug onto the TMS320C6713-DSK. You would use two McBSP ports to talk with the ADC and DAC. There may be parallel interface DAC's, but compatibility with the 5-6K Interface is not as straight forward since the serial boards are not compatible with parallel interface EVMs.
Do you mean I can interface 2 DACs and 1 ADC from those I mentioned together with the 5-6k board but without physically direct connection through pin headers but through IDC cable forexample ?
but from pin count of view its possible right ?
You can use 1 ADC and 1 DAC board, or 2 ADC or 2 DACs - IDC cables (if they are short) could be used. You would not be able to use two serial DACs on the same serial interface site.
Two parallel DACs can share the data bus, so long as they are located at different addresses.
Ok thats great but can I connect at the same time the Serial ADC I mentioned its part number ?
i know it cant be plugged at the same time but it can be interfaced indirectly am I correct ?
Yes you can, the serial interfaces are separate from the parallel interface.
