TSW14J57EVM: PC doesn't recognize

Hi. I need help getting a PC to recognize the TSW14J57 REV B EVM, i.e., read a valid serial number. To reduce the time spent troubleshooting this issue, I would prefer if the technical support team at TI tried connecting a REV B board to a Windows 10 PC and let me know if they were successful. I'm pretty sure I'll be one step ahead of whatever will be suggested here. The hardware is a few years old, and I suspect the issue is in the HSDC Pro software. I don't see a link to older versions and, therefore, can't try them. Thanks.

Hi Dmitriy,

Let me look into this tomorrow and let you know. I think the TSW brd you have, REVB is only supported on older versions of HSDCPro. We are on REVE. And FW has been updated over time.

What EVM are you connecting to the TSW?

Hi Rob. At this time the TSW is the only board connected. Eventually, the ADC12DJ3200EVM will be added.

Dmitriy,

I just checked around our lab and can't find a RevB myself to connect and try.

The link below contains install for versions 4.52 and 4.6. Version 4.52 is an internal release which says "add support for TSW14J57". I am hoping this is for early revision of the board. Version 4.6 is the first public release version that included support of any TSW14J57 to my knowledge.

Hi Dmitriy, one other suggestion I have is to uninstall any/all HSDCPro versions you have and delete the associated folders inside C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments (or the x86 Program Files since older versions are not 64-bit). You can install multiple versions if you instruct the installer to do so. In my past life I would add the version number e.g. "v5p2" at the end of the folder name to keep multiple versions and to internally test new versions

Hi all. We've made progress. Version 4.52 recognizes the capture board, and I can talk to it. However, the 4.6 still doesn't. This is mind boggling, but at least I have something that works. I uninstalled previous versions and deleted all TI folders before testing these two versions. Before marking this thread as "Resolved", I want to ask TI to add back support for the TSW14J57 Rev B. I want to use the latest software. Thanks for the help everyone.

There is still one little issue. The software is installed, but every time I start it, Windows asks me to enter Administrator credentials. Does anybody know how to fix that?

Please install ver 5.2 as Kyle suggested above.

Not sure about the admin credentials for this version.

Hi Dmitriy,

It just occurred to me that you are trying to use an older J57, REVB.

This is no longer supported and hasn't been for some time.

The other issue, is that the J57 EVM is obsolete due to the FPGA being obsolete.

Lets start by understanding what Jmode and/or features you are trying to evaluate with the ADC12DJ3200?

Hi Rob. I've created a dedicated thread to get help on the configuration of the capture board for our specific mode. Shall we continue there? As for this thread, I understand the problems with the hardware. What I didn't understand is why, after admin permission was required to install the software, Windows continues to ask me to enter the credentials to simply run the software. This renders it useless if you don't and can't get admin rights on a PC.

Unfortunately, we cannot support this older version, as we don't know either and this SW was developed by a third party vendor that we no longer work with.

I see on the other E2E post you are looking at JMODE5. Is that correct?

We are here to support you, but we cannot use older outdated HW and SW. We will set you up with newer tools.

Should I close this post and we continue on that one?
