Hi,

The jumpers in ADS1298ECGFE-PDK are set to default position as mentioned in manual and the Connector J1 is connected to ECG simulator (5 -lead).

Opened GUI, went to Analysis Tab -> ECG Display. But nothing is displayed in graph.

Tried enabling and disabling all filters. Read the data by both acquire and continuous method.

Why is it so? Do we need to make any other change

Hello Nivethitha,

Thank you for your post. Have you tried a single data set capture under the Time Domain tab? If so, can you share the results?

Please also share an image of the front panel after the EVM powers up and connects to the GUI.

The GUI data capture appears to be working fine. The Time Domain representation of the data is found under the Scope tab.

This is the input signal we are giving,

Please find the output signal no difference why so? Do I have to make any changes in hardware or software?

Hi Nivethitha,

You'll need to verify how the simulator electrode inputs are mapped to to the DB15 connector pins. Once this is confirmed, then you can select the appropriate ADC channel to measure that input. The net names on the EVM schematic are arbitrary as the signal chain is identical for all ECG electrode inputs.

It looks like you are measuring Channel 1. By default, Channel 1 is configured to measure V6 - WCT. If your simulator is outputting a Lead I ECG (LA - RA), then I suggest you measure Channel 2 and confirm that the LA and RA electrodes from the simulator are connected to DB15 (J1) pins 10 and 9, respectively.

Hi Nivethitha - can you share the complete register settings?

Also, can you try an alternate signal source? You can configure the inputs to measure an internal square wave test signal, or connect a function generator with a 100 mVp sine wave.

The register settings are programmed defaults in the GUI. Please find the below,

Also, we have tried two different ECG waveform sources, yet no response. Also, will try to connect 100 mVp sine wave as suggested and get back to you.

Do we need to change any register settings?

Hello Nivethitha,

Please change the CHnSET bits [2:0] to 000b. Currently, you have configured all channels for internal input-short configuration. This means the inputs to the PGA are disconnected from the device pins and shorted internally to a mid-supply common-mode voltage. Differentially, all channels will measure close to 0V in this setting.

Please provide comments on the below schematic for 5 lead ECG as well as respiration measurement using ADS1294R.

Hello Nivethitha,

The schematic connections look fine. One recommendation I have is to adjust the R||C between RLDOUT and RLDINV. Currently, the closed-loop bandwidth is 40.6 Hz. Actually - this should be increased such that 50/60Hz is included in the RLD bandwidth, which helps to improve CMRR at those frequencies. You can use 1MΩ || 1.5 nF (this was done on ADS1298R EVM).
