Sporadical problem after power up

Part Number: ADS8507

Tool/software:

Hello, I am experimenting some problems with the part. Sometimes after power up the part will not work. I read the following hint in an old thread:

"There is a potential for the internal ESD circuitry to turn on if VDIG exceeds VANA  by more than +0.3V"

If this is the case, is there a way to tell internal ESD circuitriy everything is fine so tha part can work properly. Normally a power cycle will restore normal function.

There will be a bigger chance the problem happens if the instrument was tured off longer time. V_ANA and V_DIG are connected together on the application.

Best regards,
Gabriel Artavia

  • Hi Gabriel!

Welcome to our e2e forum!  As you highlighted above, VDIG should not exceed VANA by more than 300mV.  The post you are referring to though has a few additional stipulations, such as the reference and digital inputs not exceeding VANA or VDIG.  One additional caveat is that the analog inputs cannot exceed VANA by more than 300mV as well.  Since your supplies are tied together, I don't suspect that is an issue.  Please ensure your analog input are 'OFF' before powering up the ADS8507 and that you are not driving any digital input before the power rails are established.
