ADS1194: What is LEAD, Electrode and channel?

Part Number: ADS1194

Tool/software:

Hi there,

What is LEAD, Electrode and channel present in ECG AFE?

In ADS1194, the description shows it was 3 lead, 5 lead or 6 lead patient monitoring system. But there is only four channels present in AFE.

Is the Electrode and channel in AFE same?

Kindly clarify me on this.

Thanks!

  • Hello Sneha,

Channels refer to the number of ADC cores in the ADS1194. As such, the ADS1194 has four simultaneous-sampling delta-sigma ADCs, each of which converts the differential input voltage present at the INxP and INxN input pins.

Electrodes and leads can be mapped to these four channels in various configurations. To learn more, please review the Analog Lead Derivation video linked on our BIOFAQ E2E page.

    Regards,
