ADS7142: Query on the ADC BUSY/READY pin and ALERT Pin

Part Number: ADS7142

Tool/software:

I am planning to use this part number in my circuit, is it necessary to use the BUSY/READY pin and ALERT pin. Shall I leave those pins open and is it possible to work with the SCL and SDA pin alone.

Since I have only SCL and SDA pin alone coming from my master IC I cannot connect the BUSY/READY pin and ALERT pin. therefore, shall I leave those pins open?

Thanks,

Amal

  • Hi Amal,

Though it is not strictly necessary, if you can afford it in your layout, I would suggest connecting the BUSY/RDY pin in some way to monitor the status of the device (polling a GPIO is sufficient). Otherwise, you can leave it floating.

If you won't be utilizing the ALERT pin, I would recommend placing a weak pull-up resistor for this pin to reduce power dissipation across it.
