DAC38RF80EVM: Recommendation for a Cost-Effective Xilinx FPGA for S-Band Transmitter with DAC38RF80EVM

Part Number: DAC38RF80EVM

Tool/software:

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project that involves developing an S-band transmitter, and we're planning to use the DAC38RF80EVM. Could anyone recommend a Xilinx-based FPGA that would be the best fit for this application, keeping cost-effectiveness in mind?

Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Vandana

  • Hi Vandana,

This will be difficult to answer, because the FPGA selection should first be made based on number of SERDES Lanes needed, and the speed capability of the transceivers. This alone can mean the difference between 7000 series and Ultrascale series FPGA. The speed grade will also span different options.

Finally, beyond the JESD IP, your application needs will determine the fabric / memory resources that you will need.

You may need to list all of these and then run a comparison between the 7000 and Ultrascale series FPGAs to identify the most cost effective option.

    Regards,

    Ameet
