ADS131M08: START / STOP conversion of ADS131M08

Part Number: ADS131M08

Tool/software:

Hi ,

For the ADS131M08, can you please inform where to find commands to stop conversion, and restart  conversion  in the datasheet ?

On page 42 , the commands are for RESET, STANDBY,WAKEUP,... etc . but nothing is mentioned on how to stop conversion and restart it .

Thank you for any help

  • Hi Saad,

the ADS131M08 does not offer dedicated "Start or Stop conversion" commands.
You stop conversions by sending the "STANDBY" command, and then start conversions by sending the "WAKEUP" command.

In addition the SYNCn pin can be used to restart/resynchronize conversions.

  • Hi Johachim,

what are the commands 0x11 and 0x08 which I see people using to stop and start conversion. I was looking for these commands in the datasheet without success !

Also , how do can you write and read registers while the data conversion is continuous?

Can we write/read registers in standby?

  • Hi Saad,

the ADS131M08 doesn't offer those commands. Other TI ADCs offer such commands, but not the ADS131M08.

We recommend to only write registers to change the device configuration when you are in standby mode, especially when you want to change the power mode or OSR setting. But you can in principle write registers also while conversions are ongoing.

You can read registers both in standby mode and when conversions are ongoing. I would recommend reading sections "8.5.1.10.7.1 Reading a Single Register" and "8.5.1.10.7.2 Reading Multiple Registers" in the datasheet. If you still have questions after reading those sections, then please reach out again.
