DAC39RF10-SP: output 3dB degradation

Part Number: DAC39RF10-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC39RF10EVM, DAC39RF10

Tool/software:

Hi,

There is issue 3dB lower output power than expectation.

Please check below questions.

1. Can it increase output power level with increasing switched output current by modifying Rbias?

2. Customer tried to input -3.6V instead of -1.8V at VEEAM18 and VEEBM10. can it make this lower output? now it's connected to -1.8V.

Thanks.

  • Hello,

Is the customer using a DAC39RF10EVM? What output level are they expecting to see?

-3.6V does exceed the absolute maximum threshold of that supply so it may cause damage with any amount of exposure. If this was a short term exposure and the device seems to still work the device is probably fine. Do they happen to know how much current the device was exposed to?

  • Hello,

The exact duration of time during which the power was on for testing is not clear, but it lasted for several hours. However, during that time, no digital signal was input through JESD, so no signal was transmitted from the DAC. After detecting the input power error, it was corrected, and the transmission of digital signals through JESD was started. Subsequently, we observed about a 3dB decrease in output level compared to other products of the same type.

    Eusuk Shim.

  • Hey Eusuk, When you say other products of the same type do you mean other DAC39RF10's?

Could you provide what the frequency of the tone was and what the output level of the DAC was?
