TLK2711A/SP

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK2711-SP

Can TLK2711A/SP operate at rates less than 1.6Gbps, e.g. 800Mbps? If not, can you recommend another TI serdes transceiver for the latter rates, or, even better, a similar SOC that can handle both throughputs (i.e. 0.8 and 1.6Gbps)?

I also have some questions about the K words. How can I get to talk to a live tech support person?

Thank you.

  • Gene,

The TLK2711-SP is currently the only Class V SERDES device available from the HiRel group.

If you need class V, then this is currently the only option.

It does not operate below 1.6Gbps.  The PLL cannot be guaranteed to lock at lower rates.  However, you do not need to use the full data bandwidth.  If your payload only requires 800Mbps, then the other 800Mpbs can be filled with idle characters.  Or, it would be possible to set the upper MSB to a known value, and only use the lower byte for data and synchronization.

If you are not looking for class V qualified, then I can move this post to the commercial forum.  They may have other devices that would suit your needs.

  • Hi Wade:

Thanks very much for the heads-up on the TLK2711. I do have a couple more questions, so I was wondering if we could chat for a few minutes on the phone?

My cell: 949-338-4865, so feel free to call me anytime, or if you prefer, can you send me a phone no. where I might reach you?

    Thanks very much.
