Tool/software:
Hi,
TLA2528 Datasheet requires I2C SCL rise time for Standard Mode, Fast Mode and Fast Plus Mode all to be less than 120ns (Max). 120ns is quite difficult to reach for an I2C open-drain signal.
I2C Standard however defines different limits for different mode: <1000ns for Standard Mode, <300ns for Fast Mode, only Fast Plus Mode should be <120ns.
"TLA2528 communicates via an I2C-compatible interface ..."
(1) Does it really mean TLA2528 only accepts 120ns (Max) for SCL rise time for all three modes?
(2) I only find tR and tF (rise/fall time) requirement defined for SCL, but not for SDA. Should SDA follow same timing requirement as SCL?
(2) all I2C timing in DS refers to Vih(min) (70% Vdd) and V il(max) (30% Vdd) levels, same as I2C Standard, right?
Thank you!
Hi Janne,
You are correct, and this is an error in the datasheet. This device's specifications will conform to the I2C standard timings. Our datasheet is missing separate columns for standard mode and fast mode. In the picture below, the top shows the I2C standard, and the bottom shows our datasheet. Please go by the I2C standard for all of your questions above.
Regards,
Joel
