About ADS1281 convert starting time control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1281

Hi

I am now facing a problem on my designation using the ADS1281 chip. I have read the datasheet of  ADS1281, but there is question to ask and wish you give me a hand.I want to start new convertion per 5ms, that is 200Hz datarate I want, but ADS1281 doesn't surpport the datarate, so I gona to use 250Hz datarate to convert, I mean I start a new convertion and get a sample data 4ms later, then stop convert about 1ms to start a new convertion, this will match my  200Hz datarate, but ADS1281 is a continuously converter, I try to use sync pin to control the convert starting time, but will wait about 64 times datarate periods to start a new convert,  that is a long time. so how should I do to achieve this function?  Thanks a lot!

  • Jin,

Welcome to the forum!  One thing you could do is slow down the master clock to approximately 3.28MHz.  This will change the filter characteristics, however.  Is there some reason why it is necessary to start the conversion every 5ms?  Or is that just the data capture time?  You could run the device in SDATAC mode, and then read data by command (RDATA) every  5ms.

    Best regards,
