Hi Bob,

thanks a lot for your previous help. i was able to get the setup up and running, using arduino uno to read the load cell output. i did this by connecting the following: in0 - exc+, in1 - a-, in2 - a+, com - exc-.

i would like to check if there is an option to use the ADC to read the load cell, if both load cell output wires are connected to in0 and in1. i would connect com to gnd, and exc+ directly to my arduino 5 v.

i tried this with the right command and i got constant 0, with no change.

i'm asking this due to setup limitations.

Hi Eitan,

Do you have a schematic available for this?

Also, you might find this app note helpful: A Basic Guide to Bridge Measurements (Rev. A) (ti.com)

It gives detailed information on bridge/load cell measurements and example circuits.

Hi Angel, thanks for your help. I was able to connect and measure, I just needed to change one of the jumpers to not supply IN0 with 5 v.

I however do have a follow up question. while i was able to connect and read my load cell with an arduino board, i wasn't able to do so with my custom PCB. i wasn't even able to communicate with the ADC using I2C, the INIT failed. can you please consult why this might be happenenig?

Hi Eitan,

Are there differences between your custom PCB and your previous setup that would cause you to not be able to communicate to the device?

Are you using your analog supply (AVDD – AVSS) as your voltage reference selection in your configuration of the ADC (Since REFP and REFN are being left floating in your schematic)?

I would recommend using a logic analyzer or an oscilloscope to probe the I2C digital communication lines to see if there is something going on with the digital communication as that could be the reason you aren't able to communicate with the ADC.
